What is included in a cabinet paint job?

  • Protection

We cover counters, appliances, floors and nearby walls.

  • Labeling and removal

Doors, drawer fronts and hardware come off and get numbered so every piece returns to its place.

  • Prep and prime

Kitchens carry cooking oil and hand oil, so every surface is cleaned, sanded and primed with a bonding primer.

  • Spray

We spray the finish coats on doors, drawer fronts and face frames.

  • Cure and rehang

Doors cure before they go back. We reinstall hardware and adjust the hinges.

  • Cleanup

We remove protection, wipe down and walk the kitchen with you.

What is not included?

  • New cabinets, new doors or new hardware. We reinstall the hardware you have, or fit hardware you supply.
  • Countertop, backsplash and appliance work.
  • Repair of failed laminate or peeling thermofoil. Send a photo and we tell you what the surface allows.
  • Structural or water-damage repair inside the cabinet boxes.

How do you paint cabinets?

  1. Walkthrough

We count doors and drawers, check the existing finish and agree on color and sheen.

  2. Remove and label

Doors and drawer fronts come off, and each gets a number that matches its opening.

  3. Degrease

Remove cooking oil and grime from every face.

  4. Sand

Scuff-sand to dull the old finish and level small flaws.

  5. Prime

Bonding primer, with Extreme Bond on glossy or stained surfaces.

  6. Spray

Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel, sprayed in coats, with light sanding between coats.

  7. Cure and rehang

The finish cures before doors return. We set the cure time by the finish and the weather and give you the date.

Why spray, and why this enamel?

A brush leaves strokes, and a roller leaves texture. Spray lays the film flat and even, so the cabinet looks factory-finished and does not show hand marks. Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel dries hard and resists yellowing, so white cabinets stay white. It suits doors, drawer fronts and any surface that gets handled daily. We also use ProClassic on built-ins and interior trim when the project calls for it.

Painted cabinets still take daily wear, so we describe your finish and care steps at the walkthrough.

What affects the cost of cabinet painting?

The count of doors and drawer fronts sets most of the price. The existing finish matters next: stained and glossy cabinets need more prep than painted ones. Color and hardware work add to the total.

Cabinet painting questions

How long does cabinet painting take?

Cabinet painting takes longer than wall painting because every coat needs time to cure. We tell you before the job starts how long the doors are out and when the kitchen is back in full use.

Do you spray cabinet doors or brush them?

We spray the doors, drawer fronts and face frames, and brush only the tight spots a sprayer cannot reach.

Can you paint cabinets that are stained or already painted?

Yes. Stained wood, old paint and glossy finishes all take paint once we prep them and prime with a bonding primer such as Extreme Bond. Skipping that primer is the usual reason painted cabinets chip. Cabinets with failed laminate or peeling thermofoil need a closer look, so send a photo first.
