Paint and process
Why we use Sherwin-Williams exclusively, and how we use it
One paint brand, the right line for each surface, and two coats over walls we have already fixed.
M22 Fresh Coats paints exclusively with Sherwin-Williams. We match each line to the surface: Sherwin-Williams Emerald for premium interiors and exteriors, Duration for stain resistance and thick film, Cashmere for open walls, SuperPaint for everyday work. Prep comes first on every job, and we apply two coats.
Why Sherwin-Williams exclusively?
One supplier means one set of product data sheets, one set of color references and no substitutions halfway through a job. We learn how each line levels, hides and recoats, and we choose from that range for every surface. We use the Sherwin-Williams name to tell you what goes on your walls. M22 Fresh Coats is an independent painting company. The brand does not sponsor or endorse this site, and we are not a dealer.

Colors we reach for on lake houses
These are starting points we have seen work in Northern Michigan light, where a cool morning off the bay and a warm evening can read like two different paints. Every color gets painted on your wall before you buy a gallon.

What is the prep-and-application standard?
Protect
We cover floors, furniture, fixtures and landscaping before work starts.
Clean
We wash exteriors. We wipe and degrease interior surfaces where needed.
Repair
Fill, skim, scrape and replace only what the quote says.
Sand
We sand edges and repairs so the coat grips and lies flat.
Prime
Bare, stained, glossy and repaired surfaces get the right primer.
Caulk
Gaps get sealed before topcoat.
Two coats
We apply two finish coats, by brush, roller or spray to suit the surface, in dry weather on dry surfaces.
Cleanup and walkthrough
Tape comes off, debris leaves and we walk the job with you.
